Description |
White cotton quilt with geometric shapes and all the names of the congregation embroidered in red. (From Deed of Gift) - One autographed quilt. Made by the ladies of the Presbyterian Church in Brougham in 1897. The names were sold at 25 cents (and up) each and the proceeds were used to pay for work in the church. 1897 was the year of Queen Victoria's Jubilee. Received on July 6th 1960. Sister of Mr. Poacher's bought it at a sale and it was taken to Battleape, Michigan and went to Mrs. Mechin. She gave it to Mrs. Brown, Mrs. H. Malcolm's mother and it was then given to Mr. Frank Brown of Windsor, who in turn gave it to the museum. |
