Object Name Box, Trinket
Description A rectangular box with four round legs and formed from one piece. A gold line painted around top edge of box. The raised decoration is also outlined in gold. One pair of pink roses on each of long sides of box. Small light purple and blue flowers on each of short sides of box. Maker's mark: on bottom in dark green "LIMOGES FRANCE" with an anchor design. Signed on bottom in gold paint "M.C.G / 5/99."
China was bought as blanks or white ware [no decorator's mark; only maker's mark] and then hand painted by Minnie Green.

Makers mark Maker's Mark contains an image of an anchor with the letters A L on either side of the anchor.
A. Lanternier opened a factory near Limoges in 1855 and his china bore this mark.
The piece has been initialled by Minnie Cornwall Green and dated.
