Object Name Grenade, Hand
Description A German 'Egg' Grenade. The item is shaped like an egg and has a band around the middle with 1cm spaced grooves. The top is lighter non ferrous metal with slot in top and two grooves, possibly where the pin was attached. NOT ACTIVE.

An "Eierhandgranate" or egg grenade were carried in bags on the shoulders of the German Infantry during WWI, being light, many could be carried by one man, which was a slight advantage over the British Mills Grenade, but less effective because of their small size.
